Dr. Daniel Bastian
Veterinarian
Dr. Daniel Bastian grew up knowing he wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age. As a little kid he was always around a variety of different animals. He graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in the summer of 2017. He then transitioned into an equine practice for one year to complete an internship followed by 6 months as an equine associate veterinarian. Desiring to become more of a mixed animal veterinarian, in 2019 Dr. Bastian transitioned to a small animal exclusive clinic, since then he has been working in either a mixed animal practice or small animal exclusive practice. During his time as an equine veterinarian, he met his wife Jenny; they have welcomed two kids in this world. Dr. Bastian and his family enjoys the outdoors: horseback riding, camping, fishing, mountain biking, hiking and disc golfing, to name a few.
Dr. Victoria Karshner
Veterinarian
Dr. Victoria Karshner joined the Pet Urgent Care family in 2023. She moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2014, spending the first part of her career practicing in Central and Northern California.
Animals have always been a part of her life including dogs, cats, reptiles, rodents and fish. At the age of 7 she bottle fed a litter of orphaned kittens and decided she was going to become a veterinarian. After graduating high school she headed off to UC Davis and obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science and continued on to UC Davis’ School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1996.
Dr. Karshner has special interests in medicine, ophthalmology and surgery. When she is not in the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 teenage kids, relaxing at the lake, mountain biking and hiking with her crazy Doberman. Her household also includes 2 demanding cats and 2 crested geckos.
Dr. Christine Marcellus
Veterinarian
Dr. Christine Marcellus is a Spokane native. She graduated from Ferris High School then attended Washington State University where she received her BS in Animal Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. She spent a while in the central Washington area before returning to Spokane. She lives here with her two cats Sassafras and Spruce. Both are named for trees which lead into her hobby of Logger Sports. She still travels competing, announcing and judging logger sport competitions in her spare time.
Callie
Veterinary Assistant
Callie has been in vet med for 13+ years. She found her love for animals and vet med working as a kennel assistant and working with livestock back home in Hawaii throughout high school. She attended a university in Montana to further her veterinary career before deciding to work with small animals as a soon-to-be licensed vet tech! She is married and has 2 dogs and 3 cats. She has a strong love for coffee and a desire to provide love and care for your animals.
Hannah
Veterinary Assistant
Hannah has been a Vet Assistant at Pet Urgent Care and the Pet Emergency Clinic for 5+ years. Her love of veterinary medicine started in high school, and she was able to get a job working at a general practice vet right after graduation. Hannah has continued to love helping animals and working in emergency medicine. In her free time, you can find Hannah cuddling with her two cats Ian and Suki, or playing a tug-o-war with her chihuahua Lilly.
Kayley
Veterinary Assistant
Kayley has worked in veterinary medicine for 5 years. She grew up on a small farm in Spokane and volunteered at vet clinics since she was 15 years old. She graduated from WSU in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences. She has a special interest in exotic animals as well as companion animal nutrition. Kayley shares her home with her fiancé, Billie, and their pack of 3 cats and a bearded dragon. On her days off, you can find her spending her time in nature or curled up on the couch with a good thriller movie.
Jenn
Receptionist
Jenn has worked in Veterinary Medicine for over 25 years. She began her career as a Veterinary Assistant in a general practice many years ago while in college. She has found her forever home as a receptionist at Pet Urgent Care and has been with Pet Emergency Clinic for 5 years. Wife, mother of 3, owned by a very large, spoiled Bully named Tucker. She finds joy in attending music concerts as much as possible to stay young!
